Beulah Fredericks was born and bred in Cape Town, South Africa and has been active in the development sector for more than 40 years. Beulah is the Executive Director of the Community Development Foundation Western Cape, a position she has held since 2003. Her work there focuses on facilitating philanthropy in all its varied forms and providing leadership, support, and solidarity on issues of deep community concern.
Beulah also serves on the boards of the Ethembeni Equity Investment Fund and the Ithemba Broad-Based Ownership Trust. The latter is focused on the role of women in durable development and integrated well-being. She is also a Non-Executive Director of Velisa Africa. Beulah was awarded a Synergos Senior Fellowship in 2005 and is also the Founder of the Khosian Hiking Club.
Tarisai Jangara is a development communications specialist having worked as a journalist, editor and public relations officer. She holds a Masters in Communication for Development from the University of Zambia and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication from Midlands State University in Zimbabwe. From 2016 – 2020 she was the Communications Specialist at the Zambian Governance Foundation. She currently works with the same title at the Global Fund for Community Foundations.
Paula Chies Schommer is a Public Administration professor at the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC), Brazil. She has been a member of both the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR) since 2000 and of The World Bank's Expert Advisory Council on Citizen Engagement.
She has also been a collaborating researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Development and Social Management at the Federal University of Bahia (CIAGS/UFBA) and a leader of the Research Group Politeia: Co-production of the Public Good – Accountability and Governance.
Paula is also a member and active supporter of several local civil society organizations and community-based organizations. She holds a PhD in Administration from the Getulio Vargas Foundation and a Master's in Administration at the Federal University of Bahia. She is the author, co-author and editor of papers, chapters and books related to the following research themes: co-production of public goods and services; accountability; public governance; public management; social management; socio-territorial development; private social investment, and philanthropy.

Jenny Hodgson has been the Executive Director of the Johannesburg-based Global Fund for Community Foundations (GFCF) since it was established in 2006. She has overseen its emergence as the leading global voice on community philanthropy as a core strategy for people-led development and shifting power closer to the ground. Based variously in Uganda, Kenya, Russia, Singapore and Thailand, Jenny has been involved in philanthropy development in emerging markets and developing contexts for the past two decades. She is a board member of the African Philanthropy Network and a trustee of Comic Relief.
